A beautician to the stars has appeared in court accused of scamming almost $300,000 of credit card charges from her A-list clientele.

Maria Gabriela allegedly wrote down the numbers from the celebrities' credit card details and then used the details to rip them off.

An affidavit claims the salon owner swindled around $214,000 from actress Liv Tyler alone - as well as taking $68,000 from jewellery designer Loree Rodkin.

Rodkin told investigators she knew of other clients, such as Jennifer Aniston, Cher and Anne Hathaway, who have noticed similar unauthorised charges on their cards.

Perez, who owns the upmarket Chez Gabriela Studio in Beverly Hills, California, appeared in court on Thursday and was charged with two counts of access device fraud.

Wearing a short-sleeved grey lacy blouse and jeans, she remained handcuffed during the hearing at Los Angeles Federal Court.

Perez was eventually released on $50,000 bail after her mother, Irene Gonzalez, put up the family home to cover the costs.

The 51-year-old beautician was ordered to wear an electronic bracelet to monitor her whereabouts and surrender her passport.

An arraignment hearing was scheduled for September 20.

Arnold Schwarzenegger terminates electric bulbs if anyone leaves the lights on in his house, according to his daughter Katherine.

The California Governor's eldest child has revealed that the actor is very strict when it comes to running his home.

The 20-year-old told US Glamour magazine: "My dad is such a conservationist, if we leave a light on in our room, there's punishment.

"He takes the bulb out."

The University of Southern California student still lives at home with her movie star dad, 63, and mum, journalist Maria Shriver, 54, plus siblings Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13, and assorted pets including a miniature pony and a pot-bellied pig called Bacon.

Katherine is set to follow in her mum's footsteps and have a book published.

Rock What You've Got - which hits US book shops next month - is aimed at teens who have a low self-esteem and poor body image.

She said: "I want to encourage girls and their mothers to bond over the information I put in this book, because it can spark conversation between them and hopefully build stronger and better relationships.”

She added: "I'm fortunate enough to have an amazing relationship with my mother and I think that is what really helped me.”

"My mum and dad: they're my biggest champions."

Actor Brad Pitt's kids reportedly want him to grow his beard back.

The 46-year-old star shaved his thick beard last month and is now sporting a small amount of stubble.

Women around the world might be pleased he went for the chop but it seems his kids aren't so impressed.

A source said: "Ange likes the clean look but the kids hate it. They all used to like petting it and tugging on it. Maddox particularly is insisting Brad grows it back."

It is thought Pitt shaved his beard for his role in new movie Moneyball, which he recently started shooting.

Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has jokingly drawn a comparison between Mel Gibson and the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

Speaking to a group of utility commissioners in the state's capital Sacramento, the Terminator star quipped that while the gushing well may have been contained "no one has figured out how to contain Mel Gibson".

The 62-year-old actor turned politician also suggested to those present they switch off their mobile phones "because we are expecting a call from him", the Associated Press reports.

In the past week audio tapes allegedly of Gibson ranting at his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva have been posted online.

Alan Nierob, a spokesman for the Mad Max star, is reported to have said he was pleased the former big-screen action hero was maintaining his sense of humour and that "He's obviously paving the way for a return to showbiz."

Tim Robbins recently admitted to having a midlife crisis saying “I think we all go through something, it's inevitable. It's when you pass 40, inherently we double our age when we think about life. You start thinking about how many years you've got left. 'What the hell am I doing here?' I asked myself, 'What is it that will make you happy? What is it you have not done that you will regret not doing?'” The 51-year old actor’s answer was in the form of recording music and making an album. Tim thought about calling it ‘The Midlife Crisis Album’ but said “that's not going to sell any copies. Then I thought, 'How about Songs of Love and Misery'?” I guess he’s really broken up about his split from Susan Sarandon.

Ryan Reynolds has said when he first did stunt work, he wanted an "adult diaper".

In his new film The Green Lantern, Reynolds had to do some scary stunts and he admits this frightened him.

The 33-year-old told Entertainment Weekly: "The first time you do it.

"You're deeply considering an adult diaper."

Ryan, who plays the character Hal Jordan in the movie, had to be put in a wire harness for his flying scenes.

But the actor takes it all in his stride.

He said: "It's all part of the job. So I guess I can't complain."

To fit the role of the superhero in the film, Ryan had to go on a diet.

He added: "You spend one day a week eating what you want and the other six days eating drywall and woodchips."

Former Premier League player Landon Donovan has denied rumours that a British woman is carrying his baby.

The footballer, fresh from starring in the World Cup for the US national team, had said during the tournament he had been “informed of the possibility” that a woman from the UK was pregnant with his child.

He initially did not deny the story, saying that if it were true, “I will provide the appropriate support”.

But speaking at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night - ESPN's equivalent of the Grammys - the 28-year-old said he was happy to reveal the story is not actually true.

"I will not be a dad any time soon, which is good news for me," he told E! Online.

Donovan, who played for LA Galaxy last year and also played on loan at Everton for several months last winter, is currently separated from his wife, actress Bianca Kajlich.
