Portia de Rossi attributes change to marriage

Portia de Rossi has credited her five-month marriage to television show host Ellen DeGeneres for completely changing her life. De Rossi, who will be seen next in ABC's "Better Off Ted", told reporters in Pasadena during the Television Critics Association press event that while she and DeGeneres have been together since 2004 marriage is still a different way of being together. She said marriage has strengthened their bond and brought them peace of mind which they did not have before. Making their relationship legal makes it all the more real, formal and valid, she said. De Rossi said she was so relieved seeing her mother during the gay wedding ceremony and finally coming to terms with calling DeGeneres her daughter-in-law. She said it is important to live an honest and open life and being able to do this has made her a more confident woman both personally and in her career. However, the seeming validity of De Rossi's marriage to DeGeneres may encounter some problems with the repeal of Prop 8 after their marriage. She is however excited to guest in DeGeneres' show to promote her new television show but said there will definitely be no personal questions for DeGeneres.
